The ‘neuro, part of NLP refers to the neurological processes of the body – the senses of taste, touch, smell, sound and vision.
‘Linguistic’ refers to language and ‘programming’ refers to the arrangement of ideas and the action that this creates to produce results.
Over the years NLP has adopted certain ideas and concepts as general principles, known as presuppositions and whilst these do not have the same validity as scientific laws, they are used as a philosophical basis for learning.
A couple of examples of presuppositions are:-
- There is no such thing as failure ... only feedback.
- The mind and body affect each other, therefore if you think negatively you will get negative results, and if you think positively you will get positive results.
As NLP is the art and science of personal excellence, most modern hypnotherapists incorporate its state of the art tools and techniques into their treatment sessions in order to change the way you think and behave.
